NetProbe 10G is a DGT network tapping device, dedicated to interception, inspection and filtering of IP traffic sent over fiber optic lines (passive connection via splitters). It can be used in applications such as network monitoring and lawful interception or work with various databases as a highly efficient data acquisition device. In order to carry out these tasks the NetProbe 10G is equipped with 20 x 10GbE network monitoring interfaces (in 2RU casing), hardware Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) technology and supports up to 24 Blade Server DPI+ modules. DPI enables identification and filtering of the first 128 bytes of data in each packet of IP flow according to predefined rules, whereas Blade Server DPI+ modules expand this functionality, allowing full packet inspection and modification in real time. The filtered data stream, forwarded through 20 x 2-way 10GbE interfaces, can be evaluated by following data processing system without jamming it with unwanted traffic.

Two-step Data Processing
NetScan monitoring system is based on distributed architecture, where each server process only a fragmented but precisely selected information. As a result – it stores into local database information about sessions and transaction at the monitored level. Complete picture (like a global call/transaction information) is created by central server which query local servers to get correlated data.
Captured PDU’s are streamed transparently into a file to guarantee lossless data acquisition and buffer picks of traffic.
PDU’s from recorded streams are processed, correlated into a transactions at various levels and indexed. Some low-level statistics are also calculated at this stage. Records and statistics are stored into a local DB while processed PDU’s are kept in indexed files.
